The downside to our “blind eye” is we may have to continue living with the impact of nutritional deficiencies, which can be life-altering. We will evaluate dietary records to determine what foods and drink need to be increased, decreased, or eliminated to lay a dietary foundation of health and make our diet the primary place to supplement for vitamins and minerals. Do you want to understand how herbs work in the body and how you can administer them to make effective medicine? Learn how the body interacts with, metabolizes, and distributes herbal medicines of different types. The factors influencing skin, mucous membrane, and gastrointestinal absorption of herbal medicines will be described. Tissue sensitivity to herbal medicines and therapeutic considerations for safety in different groups will be examined.

Body Systems Health: Herbal Intervention Strategies – 1.5 hours
Why would cornsilk be better than slippery elm for a urinary tract infection, or mullein over cornsilk for a respiratory infection? After a short synopsis of major body systems’ function, particular herbs with affinity for health support of each system will be described and evaluated for efficacy. We will delve into art and science of formulating – or combining – various herbs to support health during times of body system dysfunction or illness.

Informed WomanCare: Divine Design and Decoding Hormonal Messages – 1.5 hours
Be an informed healthcare consumer by understanding the three phases of the menstrual cycle, its regularity and length, and the hormonal influences of each stage. Shonda will examine the factors which alter the norm in detail and give specific suggestions for herbal therapies aimed at restoring hormonal harmony and easing discomforts.

Investigate the therapeutic considerations for nutritional and herbal therapy during pregnancy, with specific attention paid to understanding contraindications and side effects; finding reliable herbal medicine information; and toxicity concerns for mom and baby. Learn to evaluate family and/or clients and design health support protocols for health concerns that may arise during pregnancy.

Professional Path Decisions: Discovering What is Right for You, Your Family, & Your Clients – 1.5 hours
Passion and Providence are the starting points to discover what path to walk in the different seasons of life. What “lights our fire” at one point may be a slow burn at another; what we are given in our 20’s may be different than that given in our 40’s. We will go through exercises to discover our life-driving passions as opposed to our passing passions and to see with discerning eyes what is providentially placed in our hand to be faithful to steward.
